NJ engine builders
Any recommendations on a NJ engine builder? I have been looking at CMS Motorsports in Brick any feedback with them? His engine builder Tom Moulis used to be with Kurts. From what I understand is right across the street. Any information would be greatly appreciated..Thanks

Try Tim Zepp. I have a couple friends who run Zepp engines and they are strong. Check him out.

I did talk to Zepp his prices were a bit on the high side. For what I was looking for. Been hearing alot of good things on A to Z marine in Delran. Also JC's performance. I'm gonna give a call he just a bit far but I've heard nothing but good things.I'm not afraid to travel for the right deal, I just try to stay and spend somewhat local incase theirs issues I can deal with face to face.

Dryden Marine. Rudy Dryden on A Street in Wilmington, DE did my engine. Great guy who knows engines and is very meticulous. 302-367-4962

How about Offshore Performance in Egg Harbor Twp. 609 927 3081
|
Vettesteve seems to me Rudy is highly regarded to alot of guys down the inn, gonna call him tom or tues. and he's real close, I live right over the bridge.. Also seems that Lou from A to Z comes highly regarded also, talked to him last week, great guy and very knowledgable. He is about 50 miles from me though. The guy I was going with has been dragging his feet for over two weeks now and I wanted to get my engines in by 4th of july, don't think I'm gonna ,make that now.

I bought a remann 5.7 a few years back from PRO MAR in North Jersey. They are high volume, and hence had the best price.

only 1 place to go in Ocean County...The "OLD" Kurts Marine (now called Bandit Performance Marine) is now owned and operated by the Wehrlen Family from Wehrlen Brothers Marina...Danny Crank is the only person that will put a wrench to any engine of mine and has a solid reputation for building a solid lasting engine and a more then competitive price.
http://www.banditperformancemarine.com/ DO YOURSELF A FAVOR A MAKE THE CALL YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED ! |
I agree with Bernie, Bandit built my engine. They came in on budget, on time, and the horsepower/torque we agreed to. I'm a very happy customer!!

I'm going to deal with Rudy, stopped over there last Friday, and he seems to be a straight shooter and he's only about 10 miles from my house. He gave me a few options and has some feelers out there, hopefully I will have some motors in a weeks or so.

Rudy has built 5 engines for us in the last 6 years including a pair of true 1300+hp 565s that now have over 270 hrs on them and still leak down at 10%.They don't burn a lick of oil or blow anything out of the breathers. If your looking for a specific time frame or a speedy one or two week turn around Rudy is probably not your guy.Although I have seen him complete a pair of engines and rig them in a week for a Poker run .He does all of the engine building portion 100% himself and between drag cars, muscle cars and boats, he has plenty of work . If you are looking for true custom , carefully assembled well engineered power that lasts, he is your man. |

He's either gonna tweak a couple of 502 crate motors a little or hes got some feelers out there for me for some already built engines, and he'll just go over them for me. Either way I trust he'll steer me in the right direction for my budget and time.

Not having them built then right????

Just to be clear....I was told I was talking sh*t about Rudy.
That was absolutely not the case. I have seen alot of really nice, really fast boats that he has worked on and know of alot of people who would not let another person even touch their boat. So my apologies if my statement of time frame was taken the wrong way. Not here to make waves. I was just saying if you wanted something custom built it most likely not be done is a couple weeks. That is all...done...... |

Rudy (Re)Built my 598ci N/A and I have nothing but good things to say about it. Yes he takes a little longer than others to get things done, but he is also working alone. Went from blowing out gallons of oil from blowby to zero blowby. 12% HOT leakdowns, now it is at 4% COLD leakdowns. This was on a 59 hour motor.
Spins 6000rpm anytime I want it to. |
