make it an plus if i reprogramming a old MEFI 1 System ??

1993 MEFI 1 from a 502EFI engine.

I have see 9550 ore something like this in the ECM, this is the software version. Where can i found a list for this versions. Can anbody change this versions to a newer one ?
I´m looking for a newer Software with better fuel economic and more torque and higher rev limit.
Ore can make any company a better software for this old engine than the original mercruiser software from 1993 ??
