New 540 with crossover hotter on starbord side

Looking for some HELP! Freshened up and added some goodies to my 540 Bulldog. Ditched the water pump and installed a crossover also. Fired up today and the starboard / right side head is considerably hotter than the left. Temp sending units from the intake read ok but that right head feels much warmer. Thanks in advance

What kind of upper housing are you using? How much warmer? A few degrees no biggie but 50 and there is a flow issue.

The stat housing is the one that came with crossover from Eddie Marine. I will get a digetal laser thermometer and get accurate temps readings from the same spots on both heads. Stand by make take a couple of days THANKS

are you running the one with a by pass ? with thermostat ? if so did you drill 4-6 1/8 holes in it ?

Not sure what you mean. Not at the boat right now. But I'm pretty sure it has a only two 1" lines off the top of the stat housing. There is a stst installed and no drilling of any holes any where was done. Perhaps we should have??? Thanks again

Please explain the hole drilling. Thanks

No by pass on this unit.

I had a similar issue and it turned out to be a bad raw water pump housing. The housing was grooved and wouldn't build full pressure. Not sure if this will solve your problem but it may be part of the problem if yours is like this.

if theres no bypass then take the stat out and run it. ill bet your problem is fixed and if you don't mind running colder temps then leave it out, but if you want to run a thermostat then you need a crossover with a bypass. also if you do end up using a kit with the bypass, make sure you drill some holes in the stat.
