engine heating up past idle
I have 454 mpi overheating as soon as you get the engine past idle. I am thinking impeller any other ideas before i tear into it thanks

Check for water flow thru the transom. If it's and older boat it could be restricted.

It is a 1996 baja 302 with bravo1's

Impeller is the first thing to check.

It was the impeller.got it out of the water today and there was nothing left of the impeller.it was replaced last year so wondering why it was destroyed other engine is running at 150 to 160 degrees thanks for the help

make sure you got all the missing peices.
should have lasted more than 1 yr.... dry starts?? |
No dry starts,back flushed cooler and got some pieces out,wandering about thermostat and any other components or will the small pieces make it out the exhaust

99% will get get caught by the oil cooler. Anything smaller will just pass all the way through the system. Pull the hose where water enters the oil cooler and check for debris.
