How to hook up a thermostat housing
I have a question on how to hook up a thermstat housing. the housing I have has 6 outlets, 1 apears to be from the water pump, than there are 2 for each exhaust manifold, what do I do with the other port ?? Do I just block it off ?? Its a 350 GMC with a Volvo outdrive. There is a stainless 1" pipe coming from the outdrive, I assume this goes to the water pump, than from the water pump theres a hose to the thermostat housing, than there are 2 ports running to each exhaust manifold, 1 to the lower part of the exhaust and the other to the upper part of the exhaust, thats a total of 5 ports, what do I do with the 6th port, just plug it, ?? Thanks so much for any help I can recieve.

I think the one your talking about is the big one on the lower left if your facing the front of the engine.? it goes to the water pump on the engine.

2 ports go to the bottom of the exhaust manifolds and 2 ports go to the risers. If you don't have that option on the risers, then you have to T the hoses together and run them to the bottom of the exhaust manifold.

Which water pump???? Sea water pump or recirc pump???
The big hose should come from the recirc pump on the front of the engine. The other line is the main water line supplying all the water to the engine. That hose should be coming from the oil cooler or sea pump. |
Maybe this pic can help you on how to run the hoses
