Stereo stuff

Looking to do a new system on my 29 scarab. Not looking to go crazy but something decent. I am thinking 4- 6 1/2"or 8" powered by 75-100 watt rms each then maybe add a sub later on if needed.. My problem is what brand. I have looked at JL, Memphis, Alpine and kicker.. i don't think kicker is what it used to be. I am looking to do it by the weekend and that means Memphis is the one (unless they are not the quaility I think they are) because a local dealer has the stuff in stock.. So please let me know is there a reason not to go with Memphis ?? Thanks

Memphis Audio is good stuff. I would get the 8's. Get an Alpine PDX 5 channel amp. It will give you a clean 75watts RMSx4 and the 5th channel is 300watts for a sub (that I know you will want to add later). The PDX amps are compact, don't get very hot and do not use nearly the power of conventional amps.

im not using Memphis but i know others who do & they are great sounding. They seem to hold up to abuse well.

I have all kicker speakers and sub in the boat, and I have actually been very impressed with their quality and sound for the price.

+1 on the PDX 5 amp. I installed a new system last winter and for this range of power it kicks a**. The test sheet on my PDX 5 came in at 104watts RMSX4 and more than the advertised 300watts on the mono (can't remember the exact #). I used two 6.5 and two 6.5x9 infinity kappas and two 9" kickers in the rear bench. The infinity's aren't marine rated, but they sound great I got a great price on them from sonic. I know there's better woofers out there but for the price I'm really please with the Kickers. The total system came together with great highs and lows and everyone is amazed at the sound it puts out. Good luck with yours.:drink::drink::drink:

Thanks for the input. I couldn't fine the alpine amp so I went with all Memphis. I went with a 4x50 amp to power the 4-8" and I went with a single 500 amp to power a 12" sub and I also got a Jvc head unit with cd and a usb port to charge a ipod.. Now i have to get it installed for the weekend..

You should like your Memphis.
I have a Memphis class D running at 1 ohm and its been pushing 4 10's for three or four years now.

Memphis is the only way to go

Save your money up and get JL audio's stuff. I have done 3 different systems in my boats and by far the best one has been the JL.
