Making a350 a 383
I've got a 2 bolt main 350 now and was considering tearing it down and building a 383 out of it. My question is besides boring the block what other machine work needs to be done for clearance purposes?
Also summit sells a 4 bolt main block block for 700 bucks that is already bored and clearenced. Which would be my better option? Also curious as to what kind of power gain I could expect to see by going to a 383 if I keep all other factors the same Currently running lt4 hot cam, 1.6 roller rockers, performer rpm intake, vortec heads, 650 demon carb, compression is around 9.8 to 10. Currently spinning a 21 laser II to 5000-5200 at 60-62 mph, with 350 cubic inches Any thoughtsbwould be awesome because I really don't wanna spend another two grand to get a 1/2 mph more if you know what I mean |
Your going to need to buy a 3.75" stroke crank also.

I may be wrong here but I beleive the bottom of the cylinder needs cut back alittle on both sides so the rod dosnt hit,

xlt86 depends totally on the kit but with all that hassle go with a 4" stroker kit to make it a 409 especially if it's a 2 bolt block and you make it to a 4 bolt with Steel Splayed caps... I would.
