454 Lx Mpi
 

I am looking at a boat that has had it's 1988 330 7.4's replaced with 454 LX mpi's. Would any body know what the HP is on this motor? As well what Gen block is it and would it be an allright base for some small HP mods?

The mods I would be talking about are exhaust, throtle body and new cams. With the base blocks being cast internals what kind of HP do you guys think they could handle keeping in mind that I want total reliability? I want to be able to leave Chicago and go to the Michigan side for lunch.

With the old motors being carbed what would be the proper way to supply the injection with fuel? In tank pump and return lines?

With these motors not being the stock setup I want to know what kind of cheese work to look for.

The LX MPI is 330 prop,, 350 at the crank. I had one in my Baja 272,,, it has 520 hours on it and runs like the day I bought it. I run it pretty hard but take care of it,, I change the oil every 20-25 hours. It has had headers on it since the first year.

What is the difference between the Gen. V and the Gen. VI block?
My 7.4LX MPI has the Gen VI block.
