I totally agree with stevesxm...this coming from a consumer...not a builder. It seems to me that if a professional "shop" builds an engine like this the buyer should get some kind of Quality Control documentation (dyno sheet) showing exactly what kind of HP/Torq the engine is capable of generating. The shop may build great street engines, but how many marine engines have they built, etc. Good luck with whatever you decide, but do due diligence.:drink::drink::drink:

Sounds like a decent price, I would be concerned about the cam. Get the cam specs and post them here. If it is not marine specific, it will most likely need to be changed. A 540 with Dart heads should make well over 600HP with the correct cam.

I would think being a 540 it could use more lift.

Is that duration at .050? If so, that is waaayyy to much duration for a marine engine, even with dry exhaust.

i could not find cam specs and i googled it a bunch of times. this motor wont sell fast either around here. so maybe ill get it cheaper
