Parts help needed Carb and exhaust
 

Okay more to this project
Needed stainless steel exhaust pipe standard 4 inch diameter for standard bravo setup
Do NOT want the fiber/rubber tubing, wanted either chrome or polished stainless steel (4 pieces about 18 inches each)

Does anyone have a line on where to get stainless 4 inch pipe?
Dont care if it is a welded seam or not (will face bottom of bilge anyway)

Next is I have basically trashed the garbage cast iron 750 lbs intake manifold that crumbled in my hand when i pulled it off the engines and then proceeded to crack my knuckle and got pissed and threw it out in the yard!!!
one thing though
the stock Rochester carb had this linkage to the choke control (a spring in a metal box) that screwed into the manifold
Im replacing the intakes with the polished aluminum performers so where do I screw this little choke control into?
Is there some carb plate I need or what?

Or is there some sort of module I can get for the carbs cause you cant expect to run if your choke plate is closed
Im guessing from the primitave nature of this that the intake heats up, expands the spring in this little metal box and opens the choke?????????????
Very 3rd grade of Mercury but then again mercury has been behind the car market in footsteps by about 5-6 years

All help on these small little problems would be excellent

I bought my stainless tubing from CP Performance. You might try a local metal shop though.

Be careful what ask for. You want 4 inch SS tube, not pipe. Tube and pipe have different OD's. Unless you boat in very cold weather, take the choke linkage off and forgetaboutit.

I agree, thrash the choke. let the motor breathe a little better and avoid having to find fabricated parts.

No problems starting it with no choke?

about that 4" stainless tubing; there is a company in jersey called Fazzio's. it's in Glassboro about 15 min. from philly. they may have what you need in stock or can get it and will cut it for you. Fran

When the engine is cold, pump the throttle a few times, and it will start without the choke. As soon as you get oil pressure, bring the engine up to a brisk idle and let it warm up, it will be just fine without the choke unless it is very cold out. Then you may have to play with it some until it gets up to temp.

Call this # 615-642-6414 ask for Jeff my brother he stocks 4" tubing and can ups to your door its brushed not polished if that matters. Good Luck Eric.

Some Performer manifolds have a cast-in choke mount. I think you have to buy an adapter from Edelbrock to make it work. However, I agree that you do not need a choke. I went from a stock manifold with the mechanical choke like you have to a Performer RPM. It does not have a provision for a mechanical choke. I have found that it is not needed. Just pump the throttle as you are turning the key and it should start right up. You will need to play with the throttle a little for the first few seconds to keep it running but, after that it will idle just fine. If you boat in 40* weather you would probably want a choke. 60* or higher, no problem. Good luck. Doug
