Pricing for Hydraulic Steering
Looking to replace my current cable and cable helm with a full hydraulic helm. Pricing directly from IMCO is about $1900 for the helm, hoses, fittings ,and a filter, I am able to use my existing external steering and ps pump. Not looking to cheap out but does this seem a little steep? Any suggestions for other manufactures or distributors? In a previous thread I was recomended to Eddie Young but I havent called him yet, but I intend to.

tbanzer,
I have a friend of mine that makes everything and is higher quality cylinders and hardware than any of them. Custom machine shop that makes most of the steering/suspension components for the big monster trucks. You can reach him via email--sstoutlaw at yahoo dot com (I think) or send me a PM and I can give you his number. Great guy to work with! |

Ahhh ha, so you know him! Yeah, he bought it a few years ago if it's the one you are thinking? He likes the box but needs more power. I'm trying to talk him into a windmill on top of the thing so his response was that he needs to sell a few steering systems this winter. :)

I just purchased the kit from cp performance. It works awesome.:evilb: I paid $1500 with shipping to NH:evilb:

If I recall, you can get a char-lynn helm unit for around $300, hose and fittings for maybe a couple hundred more.
I completed an add-on system to a full system and it didn't cost anywhere near $1900. Sure, you get the convienence when buying the kit, but you get seriously up-charged too. A trip to your local hydraulics shop and a little leg work will save you some $$. |
I need to do the same thing...need helm, adapter, lines and fittings as well....was looking at CP and talked to eddie @ youngs as well..need to go ahead and get rolling with mine now...where can you get the individual pieces ?

PSC has a Charlynn helm for $250.

PSC has all kinds of hydraulic steering components, mostly for off road, but the steering valves are a great price.

I had a single ram system that normally uses the 95cc helm, but I used the 120cc with the thought of adding another ram. I never did add the ram, but the steering worked great. |

I need to add a completed external system. I have just the cable set up. What would something like that cost and is this something I can do myself? Im mechanicaly inclined and was wounding if this stuff in difficult to do as I would like to save some money by doing it myself. Do these system come with step by step instructions if bought complete? Thanks for the help :coolcowboy:
