mobil or amsoil
trying to figure out wich oil is better
|
mobil is a automotive emission legal oil , you can get amsoil in a off road type of oil which does not have to meet the EPA bullchit

Royal Purple. <g>

I ran Mobil 1 Vtwin for the last 6 years. Last oil change I ran Amsoil Racing 20w-50. Both kept oil pressure well. The Amsoil is red out of the bottle, then turned brown with use and was definitely less viscous than the Mobil at ambient temp. I noticed when changing my leaking KE valve cover bases that the amsoil didn't seem to create that hard to remove film on parts that the Mobil created. This is completely unscientific observation, but I think I'm going back to the Mobil 1 vtwin next year. I just put Valvoline racing to winter it.

I use the 15/40 Amsoil marine/diesel oil. I also use the AE filters, they come in a few sizes. This year I used the big one, it holds 2 quarts. Worked great and added oil to the sytem.
