Default 70mph To 80mph

Hello all. I want to take my 70mph boat and make it an 80mph boat. Here are the particulars.

1995 Hallett 300 30'
Twin 502 EFI stock
Bravo 1 outdrives
4 blade off the shelf props not sure of pitch

It runs a good solid 70 trimmed and good water. Want her to go faster. I would like to keep it reliable but I understand there need to be a good many changes. What to do?????

Thanks in advance.

Probably not what you want to hear........If speed is your goal, I would consider getting into a different hull. There's a lot of hulls that can run 80ish with a single BBC.

You can add blowers, but your reliability (and wallet) will suffer.

I did think about that. If I were to go into a different boat I would like to go into a 35 or 38 Fountain. Until then, like I said, I woould love to squeeze out another 10mph.

Wink

$5K won't even begin to get that 10mph increase done in the Hallet 30. Its a big beam fairly heavy boat and I would guess its gonna take about 20-25HP per mile an hour in that boat and you would have to spend about $20K to get that added horsepower from your stock 502's.
Know this is not what you wanted to hear but its better to know now and plan your upgrades in either boat or power and budget accordingly.

Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar

Not going to happen.

Rule of thumb is 1 Mph per 20 HP.

You'd have to make 100 more a side to get there (maybe) and you aren't doing it for 5K.

Lower your expectations and look at possibly imco shorties and a new set of props and enjoy your boat for what it is.

$5k will get you the exahust system you need to run the HP level you need for the 10mph gain, and thats about it.

you either need tons more money for your goals, or just be happy with how it is now and leave it alone.
