Hi Friends,

I have two car scanners (mb-880 and ELM327) with OBD2 connector, how i can plug them on mercruiser and volvo engnes in way to read the DTC´s ?
I know i have to use some kind of adapter, but i never find anyone who can be used at.
So, the questionis:
how i can connect them ? wich pins in the diagnostic connector is what ? (can, +, -, etc)
Thanks in advance to all answers

They will not work fro Merc stuff. Not sure about Volvo.

Merc no and Volvo no - These computer control engines used - Merc was MEFI 1, 2, 3, then went PCM /ECM 555 and now Visteon. Volvo was MEFI 1,3,4, and started in model year2004 & currently use EControls out San Antonio TX.

Rinda / Diacom will do all these plus now Merc outboards. Merc / Mercruiser DDT's / cards can not read the newer Volvo's EControls computer programs but can read Volvo's MEFI.

OBD II or OBD I scanners can not read any stock OEM Marine computers.

fixx

the only one i knew would work on merc stuff was the old otc 4000,,but you had to buy the merc card in order for it to work..

Fixx you are correct - forgot about that one also OTC made these for Matco and another tool provider, These were very common in the auto field in the 90's. If you had one of these units, it would take the Merc cards and the cable connections coming from the OEM marine engine manu's.
