Tow vehecle

WIll a 4 door Chev 1/2ton 4x4 pull a 35ft boat OK? Like the 33 oultalw or a 353 fastech? Will be towing up to a max of 100 miles at certain times of the summer to go boating? Air bags be enough to assist?

It will do it, short distances but I think you might be over your weight limit with the boat wet and trailer weight added. If you do use it, def do the air bags and depending on your engine, pray for shallow ramp angles and no-one cutting you off

I wouldn't brakes suck in half tons, may take off ok but stopping or correcting a sway will be tough

jbraun2828 11-02-2011 09:00 AM

Nope. A half ton won't cut it. Baja's and Formula's are not light.

You`re nuts!
My 33 loaded with trailer is 12k#.
I had a 1/2 ton truck for my 25' A.T. I would **** my pants if I had to use it on the 33.
Time for a new 'vehecle':drink:

I used to pull my 34 Powerquest Viper with a 3/4 ton 4x4 suburban and all the hauling upgrades. It is ok for short distance local ramp stuff but I would go with a 3500 Dually for anything longer. It will put a toll on the transmission and you have to run it pretty hard on the e-way. You kinda need the extra width of the dually to control trailer sway as well as if somebody cuts you off watch out. Just my 2 cents...

My 25 OL wasn't noticable on the back of the truck. Boat is gone and now deciding on next boat. Not crazy about buying a truck as well. I see all kinds of 30 Outlaws being towed by regular cab trucks and toyotas.

Just cuz it's done doesn't mean it works well. it's not your driving ability it's the azzhat that cuts you off

smcser 11-02-2011 10:42 AM

Short distance only. Small brakes on that truck also. Make sure the new trailer has disc brakes and would suggest electric over hydrolic brakes on trailer.
