The legendary Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins shop is within 15 minutes of you in Malvern, PA. He was rebuilding marine engines a while back in conjunction with Barnegat Stern Drive. Can't hurt to check it out!

Tony at CMS Racing Engines in Middle River MD. Only 90 miles south of Philly.

I noticed you're new here, at least as a poster, welcome. Do yourself a huge favor, read some of the horror stories here on OSO related to engine builders, there are MANY. One word of advise, don't go with a builder just because he is local, go with a reputable builder regardless of how far you have to go to find one.

fkboatman 11-18-2011 10:11 PM

Only one omn east coast is Richie Zule. top notch, no headaches no issues and a very well known respected engine builder on the east coast.

fireboatpilot 11-19-2011 07:34 PM

Bandit Marine in Brick did my 540's, 700hp with hyd. roller cams. I'm stayin with a winner. Great guys and good comunication, very fair competetive pricing.

Gil Davis in West Chester. Right off of Bolmar I think.

TOMMYTHUNDER25 11-30-2011 10:55 AM

yes, I kept the boat at Al's before I had my pole barn built

R Addiction 11-30-2011 07:55 PM

Tom where do you boat? I haven't seen your boat since Al's.

R Addiction 11-30-2011 07:57 PM

Have you looked up Gil Davis in West Chester?

TOMMYTHUNDER25 12-01-2011 01:40 PM

haven't had a chance to look up Gil Davis, but I think I'm going to talk to Rudy in Wilmington soon about the motor rebuild project, just need some more $$$$
I bought property up at Raystown Lake in 2004,
built a small cabin and big pole barn and have been
hanging up there since then, and all of my boating buddies on the bay have sold their boats a few years ago
I really miss the Chesapeake Bay,and the Thunder as you know is not a lake boat.
Just paided it off last year and was planning on returning to do some "real' boating on the bay when the motor took a s_it

What engine is in yours? How many hours? If you come down the bay shoot me a PM. I have a friend that comes from NJ with a warmed over 500 EFI. Runs well.

blue thunder 12-02-2011 06:45 AM

I like your new avatar jonny! Makes you look slightly less reckless

What took a dump on your engine Tom? Is it an easy fix or a total and start over proposition? Are you just looking to put it back as it was or build more power?

Nevermind, I see it now. Hopefully it can be bored and new pistons and whala. If I were you I'd rebuild it as it was or close to it but load a blower on. Then you can always remove the blower if you want and still have a good platform n/a. I know philms engine/boat runs great so if that is rudys work it looks reputable to me.

TOMMYTHUNDER25 12-02-2011 09:22 AM

1996 25' AT w/500hp carb, 340 hours
I got the motor out and stripped down to long block
would like to build it up a little(550-600hp),depends on $$$
I'm just trying to read up on what to do and what not to do.
my wife says I spend too much time on this computer trying to figure it all out
I appreciate all the info/advice you guys have given me so far

R Addiction 12-02-2011 10:42 PM

Tommy, Low hours. We have 530 hours on a stock 502 MAG/MPI. Is your pole barn at your house? Any pictures? I'm looking to build one for our AT. Its been in a HiDri facility in Port Deposit since 2001.
