A whipple is a blower, so not sure what you're asking.

Whipple is a Lysholm Screw type blower.
a "traditional" blower (like 1960's dragsters and current top fuelers) is a Roots style blower.
Paxton, Vortech, Procharger are centrifugal blowers.

The screw and roots are positive displacement blowers, which means that for a single revolution, they pump a certain amount of air. This means that they can provide relatively steady boost levels from idle to wide open.

Centrifugal blowers essentially develop much less boost at low rpm and keep building more boost as rpm increases.

There are pros and cons of each type, and there is no "one answer" to the question until the big picture is seen.

What is your target?
What is your budget?
What is your mechanical aptitude?
What drive do you plan to run?
It goes on and on and the power combination is developed according to those goals.
