Starting 2001 502MPI on Stand
Ive looked at all the wiring diagrams for this motor. I need to start this motor in order to get this sale completed. Does anyone have an easy reference for hooking up only what wires i need to make it run. I dont need gauges or anything like that. Thanks guys.

Battery Positive to the Solenoid on the starter
Battery Negitive to block run a #10 wire from the positive of the battery to the red/pur side of the solenoid on the motor ....(this is the hot wire from the ignition..ie run ...you'll have to lift this wire to shut the motor off .... jump a positive from the battery to the yel/red small terminal on the motor solenoid to start ..... I think this is right .....be careful....m |
I got er. I appreciate the help. On this motor. + from battery to starter, ground to bell housing. On the mercruiser plug on the motor. Hook 5(purple) and 6(red with purple stripe) together, number 7(red/yellow) wire touch it to 5 & 6 and bazinga!
I cant take credit. I studied the diagrams for a bit. Eric from EB marine gave me call and told me to tie 5 and 6 together. |
Please don't do this on an engine building stand but use something low to the ground.

put your motor on a engine dolly and put 4+4s cross ways under the dolly and afix the 4+4 to the dolly.this way the engine will not flip over in the floor when your running thr motor.

Its on a pallet bolted down.

why ?? other than oil pressure and run period thats all you be able to tell....
|
Would you buy an engine you couldn't hear run?
|
Depends on who I was buying it from. I sold my spare engine last summer with out starting it. :drink:
|
I just wanted the guy to be comfortable with what he was getting. Only right to do.
|
my point it it could be knocking and you would never hear it on a stand with open exhaust
|
how about for a 500hp carb engine?
