Lot of cabbage for a totally stripped out 22 year old bare hull.

looks like a disaster to me....way to much time and $$$$ needed, buy one running way cheaper in the long run....done to many of these projects...

also done too many here! but it was still very interesting to do !

That boat was for sale in the classifieds in the spring. It was from california and the original owner only wanted $4500 and everything to complete it was included. That thing isn't worth $500 now.

I always loved the formula 292 and 1989 is my favorite year but this…

Painted the stern first and then quit??? Guess the whole boat wouldn't fit in the paint booth :confused:

He should be offering money to have it disposed of. To make it worth 30k, you would have to spend at least 50k.

I drove by that place last year. They had a fire damaged Apache they were trying to sell?

I bought the McLeod Bolsters from that boat...they are like new. I never did understand what was going on with that boat. I talked to the guy that runs that place about it and he explained that he had no one interested in it as a whole and he made more from parting it out than he would have selling it whole.

If it were closer I might consider stripping the hull and re-capping it as a Center Console Open Fisherman with outboards. A 292 would look just like a Contender with a center console and would make a great fishing boat.

How does a boat ever get in that bad shape anyhow? Sad. No love...

The guy that owned it was trying to make it look like a Cigarette????? Then I think his dad got sick and he stopped the project. That boat came with everything to make it a running boat. However now its an endless money pit!
