Pcv
I have a HP500 with a 250 powercharger 1150 holley and merlin heads my question is under the carb on the carb adapter there is 4 pipe plugs 2 on each side can I run the pvc hose from each valve cover to these or is this a bad idea being that it is directly under the carb I thought there would be more vac. to help pull neg. crank pressure on the motor. Thanks EWB

I think you'll have too strong of a vacuum, end up with a diluted charge to the engine and would stand a chance of burning a piston from it running too lean. Just run it up to the air cleaner and call it done. If you really want, you can come up with some hardware store fittings or AN fittings to plumb it into the bottom of the air cleaner where it's a bit cleaner.

likr cord said, you don't want that stuff in your intake charge. run it to your air cleaner or put on good quality valve cover breathers. Fran

People get confused.
I saw it early this morning but chose to ignor it. Guys, it's not PVC, it's PCV. Positive Crankcase Ventilation. PVC stands for PolyVinyl Chloride. Plastic drain pipes. If you chose to attach it to the carb, preferably out side of the flame arrestor. Use two, one for each valve cover. |
I believe the base plate still the wrong place.check vacuum there and that's all it's good for!

I had a 1988 Liberator with an OMC 460 King Cobra. It came from the factory with a pcv system. This also contained a valve like an auto engine to limit the amount of air you suck. Without it you could suffer a lean condition , and we all know what that can do:rolleyes: Later built a 540 Ford and used the same setup.
