Optima/Kinetik?

Hey Guys!

Happy New Years!

I have to replace the 2 batteries in my boat, they are starting to get weak. I have been looking at Optimas and Kinetiks, any thoughts?

I have a single 454efi powered "little" boat with about a 1000 watts (real) RMS power stereo in the boat that I run off a seperate battery and a dedicated start battery, I also have an onboard 8 amp 2 bank charger, any thoughts/input is appreciated!

After having optimas for the past 4-5 years I would not recomend them.

i bought a lot of odyssey batteries for hard to start big-inch harleys.....piece of ch*t...took me a while to find out,but i'll never buy one odyssey battery again...they dont last, have no cranking power, and take forever to recharge,,,they're only good for flashlights

I have heard some negative stuff anout Optimas from a few people actually, and some good as well, couldnt find much about Odysseys, Kinetik might be the way to go? Do they take a special battery mount? I have "regular" wet cell batteries now

THANKS! For the input, please keep it coming

Optimas aren't perfect, but overall, I think they have been more trouble-free than any other low usage batteries I've owned. I had one bad one that was new, and one that went bad after about 6 years.

They don't seem to have the raw cranking power of a regular lead-acid, but one blue top seems to crank a 572 ci blower motor over with enough authority. I have a relay set up to double it up to the other side just in case, though.

I have optimas in everything I own.

They had a rash of bad batteries a few years ago, then the company was sold and I havent had any issues since.

They also warrantied the two I had issues with.

I appreciate the input, I see a lot of Optimas out there and I DO like the gel cell batteries, but, the Kinetiks seem pretty good too, maybe one of each?
