454 Think I got it right?
First I would like to thank everyone for their help with the previuos threads on engine parts. I think this works together so here goes:
Gen V 4 bolt main block .030 over bore Steel crank/H beam rods, forged KB pistons-IC9919.030 110 cc Edelbrock Oval Port Aluminum Heads(these have been hanging around from a previous project) Edelbrock dual plane R.P.M. Performer intake 750 or 800 holley carb(not sure which one) 420 H.P. Merc camshaft M.S.D. distributor /M.S.D. 6M box and blaster coil Roller Rockers Aftermarket Aluminum Exhaust with Silent Choice(4") The usual machine shop stuff(block boiled, cam bearings, freeze plugs, mains aling honed) I would have to believe this set-up would live comfortably going into the high 4000 rpm range for short bursts. This is going in a 26 foot Nova Spyder with a Bravo Drive, not looking for a speeding bullet but good speed and reliability. One last question woukd be prop selection and who would be my best bet to talk to about a loaner program until I settle on one Once again thank-you for the input everyone has given me. |
Is your Gen 5 block machined for the hydraulic roller dogbones? If so, you should look into a better cam with GM dogbone hyd roller lifters. Much less expensive than a full retro kit.
And don't forget to bore notch the block. |
