Buy some cushion clamps and longer hoses. Make your runs parrallel with nice sweeping 90's. put caulk or some sealent on the threads of your screws holding the clamps or you can leave it like it is:D

Jayl13 06-18-2002 08:21 AM

Longer hoses for what?
The blowers and blower ducting is all new
Just installed all of that over the weekend
That is how the factory had it routed so I just sort of followed suit,
I thought about running it down further but not sure about oil pan clearances and things of that nature.
I had to build 2 air boxes up in the gunwhales for the vent tubes cause Baja used 3 inch and I went up to 4 (and mine are prettier)
The bilge pump was ripped out after the pics were taken, that whole area was last to be painted and the sludge that was down there I used the shop vac and sucked it all out, wiped it and cleaned it down with the hose, then sucked up remaining water that did not go out the drain in the transom.
Let it dry and painted it, I have a new bilge pump waiting to go in, (old one was about 7 lbs of sludge inside it)
I have to pull the hose out and make sure it is free of obstruction cause once these engines go back in, you will never on your best day beable to reach the bilge pump so I have to do it all now.

It looks pretty sharp. Did you pull everything and then paint or did you paint aound it ? What type paint did you use ?

Jayl13 06-18-2002 09:11 AM

I pulled alot of stuff off and left some other stuff there.
(transom assemblies stayed)
I used good ol rustoleum gloss white paint.
stuff is like indestructible and I just needed something in there WHITE so when I install the neon lights back there it will shine more.
The raw fiberglass was like a tan ugly color and sides were a medium gray.
Some of the stuff that I knew was getting thrown away I painted right over and I did not care at all.
It is starting to take shape.
As well as how engines run im worried about the asthetics as well (since I can climb in there and paint this stuff and clean it all out I did)
Back in the day the marine manufacturers did NOT pay attention to detail as they do today (you ask for 350 thou for a new fountain or cig or whatever it damn well better be breathtaking when you open that engine hatch!!!)
So I decided to go to town and not for a competition with the new boats but I want to have my jaw hit the ground when I open my own engine hatch ya know. I like how alot of the manufacturers are doing things these days and wanted a little piece of that myself.
Might not be as good but hell im trying with my crummy budget and my own 2 hands

What the convoluted tubing for all of it?
I was thinking about that but honestly im more interested
in gettin my damn motors back woohoo.
I cant wait to get them photographed too.
Ill take a ton of pics prior to them being dumped in.
Wife in Bikini next to the 2 engines WOOHOO
Beauty and the beasts!
This has been a labor of love and definately a challenge.
will I do it again
Hell no! Not anytime soon anyway.
This was definately more than I bargained for but mostly rewarding outcomes and definate happy bliss due to the fact when someone says Cool, where did you buy it at?
Ill get to say I built it!
Jon, if you have any other ideas on the wiring rigging, let me know.
I was going to start maybe looking around for the convoluted tubing in yellow (accent color) cause engines will be magenta, spark plug wires (new Taylors ready and waiting to go) are yellow so Id tie it all in with some of that tubing stuff.
Im going to start pulling some other stuff off tonight and paint the magenta on it (caps of the 2 resoviors for the drive fluid, Brackets of the drive fluid bottles, The screw jack for the engine hatch all magenta.)
Dont want TOO much magenta back there cause all the exhaust is all ready painted and ready to rock and roll
Another 2-3 weeks and she shall float again........
Im startin to get happy on this project

!!!WARNING!!!

However tempting it may be, Don't mix up the "Beauty" and the "Beast" part. The ramifications will be severe! LOL! :D :D :D

Dude there is NO WAY I will be done in three weeks. I hope and this is a big HOPE to be done by some time in August, but I have no idea when. I as you have hit a financial brick wall. All the backorders are killing me. BUT. I got billed for one of the larger ones I have been waiting for so hopefully that means that they are on their way and I can rock and roll on that guys house agian :D:D I am shooting for getting her in the base prime before I take the July 4th weekend.
