Sealing cylinder head bolts
What kind of sealer is being used to seal up the head bolts on a gen IV 330 / 454 ? Will Permatex work ?
Bo |
Bo last time I did it I used ARP thread sealer and just a touch of ARP assembley lube on the washer and bolt head.

I use Permatex High Temp Thread Sealer. Its in a little tube similar to Locktite.
|
Ive used "High Tack" with success. I think its a permatex product too.

ARP
I'll second my friend from the land of the Gators on the ARP products. ARP thread sealent has lubrication properties that aid in consistant bolt torques. If you do use ARP thread sealents and assembly lube, you should use ARP's torque recomendations to avoid over-tightening your head bolts.
In any event, make sure that the threads are both clean and dry before applying any sealent. |
