Cord I asked a buddy of mine about the shifting while no power was on. He said that if the engine is not running, and you want to shift it then just make sure you do not force it. He said that if you force it you can bend the shift forks. So just keep that in mind. You could have some one turn the drive shaft manually while you try and put it in gear????

Dude it is a race you and me to the finish line!!!! :D:D

I hope that the weekend after I get back from Maine I can get the boat lifted up in the air and get the bottom painted. This of course requires some of my customers paying me money!!!!

You do realize, that the bottom finish is not critical on TRAILER QUEENS! :D

You guys need to be careful. Do not shift the Bravo or BlackHawk drives unless you are spinning the propshafts,by hand if necessary. The Mercruiser Tech who rebuilt my last outdrive gave me that advice. Reason for rebuild.. you guessed failed shift lever. It was his advice not to shift the drive without the engine running or without the propshaft spinning unless ABSOLUTELY unavoidable.. ie: stalled in a busy channel. Those shift levers can bend, and will eventually cause a failure or break and then you are screwed.

Woodsy :D

Thanks for the tip. You know, sometimes by feel you can tell that something isn't to be forced. This in one of those instances.
