Motor mounts - baja

I purchased a baja 24 outlaw without power. The front motor mounts that came with the boat are the type that attach to the top of the stringer. These mounts have no adjustment. Instead where the large stud would normally be just looks like a solid bushing that is bolted from the engine motor mount down. Has anyone heard of this? How is alignment adjusted with these? I wouldn't mind going to the stock setup which I think is normal Merc adjustable mounts with some sort of guard that covers the stringer bolts and is thru bolted by one bolt thru the stringer. Has anyone heard of this kind? If so where can I get the cover piece? I have a hole in the stringer for this cover piece.

I don't have a picture of what I'm looking for because the boat doesn't have them on it now. The following thread has the type that came with it stock I believe. I'm just looking for the stringer side.

How do I post pictures? On the lower left of my screen under posting rules, it says You may Not post attachments.

You have to be a paying member to post pics. If you like, you can email them to me and I'll post them up?

Yes. Those are it! Looks like stock merc mounts with that cover piece that is through bolted. I'm sure I could get the stock merc mounts somewhere, but where do I get the cover piece? I'll be pulling the transom assembly and k-planes this weekend so I can clean/sand/smooth and paint bilge. I will upgrade my membership so I can attach photos of the mounts that came with the boat. They are not adjustable, and was wondering if anyone has seen this type before. Maybe they are better than stock Merc, but I don't think I like the non-adjustability factor.

I don't know if I still have the 'covers' or not, I'll take a look in the next couple of days and see. Pretty much all they do is keep the lag bolts from backing out.

From what I recall all they were, was a piece of angle aluminum slotted to go around the mount.

Here are pictures of my solid non-adjustable motor mounts. Ever see these?

Interesting, and no. I would use the ones like EbayEd has.

The problem with the ones you suggest is that the motor mounts from the motor come directly over the stringers, so I can't just bolt the aluminum angle piece to the side of the stringer, because then the main stud of the merc style motor mount will not line up. I guess I could mount the angled piece of aluminum so the horzontal leg is over the stringer, but then I'd have to raise it to get bolts in to attach the merc style mount to the top. Which then might make it too high for the motor.

I fabbed my own several years ago. I welded the adjustable mount to a metal hanger that went around the stinger. It was a like a 6 inch box that I ran bolts thru to hold it then I welded the mount to that.

the ones in my picture are on a piece of angled aluminum and the mounts would sit directly above the stringer
