575sci water pressue gauge mounting...
Wondering what the best place is to mount the required fittings to read the water system water pressure. Installing a couple gauges this weekend and wanted to get some ideas. I have installed a few in other boats in the block drain areas but wondering if there is a better location...
Thanks |
I'm moving mine to the top of the intake. Hopefully no more cleaning out lines.

I have drilled holes in the block above the block drains so they don't get plugged, or go to the intake manifold.

I have used the drain plug on oil cooler if you have one. Normally its 1/8th NPT plug. Rotating the cooler a bit helps so sand or whatever doesnt accumulate there. Or you can drill and tap the back of the intake manifold, at the rear water jacket.

I was think the intake manifold however I am thinking on cutting the hose from the sea water pump feeding the motor, inserting a 2" long piece of stainless, clamping it in place, then in the middle of have a tig welded fitting to attach the tubing to...
Where abouts would I drill and tap in the intake?? |
It looks like there is pipe thread port on each side at the rear water ports. Look in the picture near the distributor hole.

Where abouts would I drill and tap in the intake?? I'd save the dough, and just drill the intake at the rear water jackets. You will get a good reading of what psi is in the block/heads. |
I normally go into the front of the intake. That big flat area just to the side of the thermostat housing would probably work as long as the exhaust water hoses aren't in the way. That's where I would go.

Mine's in the side of the block and has never plugged. At the end of the year I disconnect it to drain the water. Don't go boating in dirt? The yearly unplug probably helps drain sediment out which should be done anyways.
