What if trim pump goes out in the water?
 

I am new to boating and wanted to be prepared. I was thinking the other day what if the trim pum goes out in the water? Is there a way to manually "trailer" the out drive to get the boat loaded?

I have seen the lines disconnected and manually lift the outdrive and tie it up. However, there are a million "what-ifs" in boating. You may be overthinking, regular maintenance along with general preparedness goes a long way. Relax and enjoy boating!

I wasnt loosing any sleep over it but thought I would rather have or add something like the right size wrench to the tool kit so I wasnt brainstorming on the lake.

I had mine fail on me last year. The drive was in the Trailer position out at the sand bar, and wouldn't lower.

I ended up swapping the hydraulic lines around so I could lower it, headed back to the dock, swapped them again to raise it. It was a pain, but it kept me on the water, and I made it home no problem.

Check to see if you've got power to the pump first. If you've got power but the switch is inop; they are easy to jump. Pull the little black cover off where the power/ground strip is on the pump. Blk is ground, blue is up, green is down. If the drive is stuck in the down position, take a screwdriver and jump the black to the blue and it will raise if there is power. Blk to green to lower.
