Adding shore power cost and recomendations
 

So I finally bought my Powerquest 340 Vyper, and I need to install shorepower. I also want to install a 3 bank battery charger and 2 additional outlets. Any idea on how much this might cost? I live in Chicagoland area and also need recomendations on where to get it done. Thanks for all of the help guys!

Shorepower plug, marine wire, breaker panel, galvanic isolator, charger and outlets. $600 in parts??

I already bought a Smart Plug cord and Inlet. Guess im a little scared to drill into my boat, but the first price quote I got from a guy I thought I trusted was Over $2000!!!

i drilled a hole through a transom once on a crownline to put exhaust on and it was scary trust me. But if your going on the side towards the top about where your fuel doors are on lots of boats that stuff is very thin. Just measure and twice and check behind to make sure you are not drilling into anything. get the right size hole saw, once the whole is cut you cant really mess up the placement of the receptacle. Just get some of that white adhesive sealent put behind the receptacle and screw it down. 2000 seems high, but I guess if he is inlcuding parts it could be within range. Its probably a solid weekend job for one guy to do, but should be very easy.

Gave in and paid someone to do it right. Last thing I want to do is mess with electricity and water. Got the shorepower, 3 bank battery charger, fridge provisions, 2 outlets, and all necessary hardware including wire and a Blue Seas AC panel. He will have it done by next weekend for $1900. I figured why be cheap, get it done right, and save some time.

If you are confident and have a nice boat sometimes its hard to mess around. but in reality thats an easy job and think your are overpaying. But good luck.

yeah. I prob have about $800-$900 in parts, so about $1,000 in labor. I'm sure I'm paying a bit much, but it does seem like in shorepower there is a little more than meets the eye. All of the polarity and connections and location of the wires confuses me. As long as I can talk myself into the idea that he can do a better job than I couldve I'll be fine. Plus it does save a ton of time. Someone make me feel better about spending too much $$$$$!!!!!!

Make sure you are getting a galvanic isolator too!

If wiring confuses you, you did right by having it down.
