just for the record,my post about bob was not a slam,a lot of people don,t have the knoledge to pick the right parts combo,and bob can help those people from making costly mistakes,in no way was i trying to shed a bad lite on bob or his business.

Good point. Kinda got carried away with that post. Needed it's own thread. More to Ray's post, a competitive build would fill-in the specification questions to his very fine explanation.

if you can only do one of ray's 5 criteria, or one at a time, do the shortblock. an underpowered motor that will hold up is better than a powerful motor that won't.

We just built some for CMMS as you are stating and made about 640 hp 650 ft I dont hve the dyno sheet with me.
