454 425hp Ignition Timing??
Setting up a 454 ho 425 crate motor in a project. It has been completely marinized and had the cam swapped for a marine grind. Should be 425-450hp.....
Anyway, looking for a base timing set point. It has been a good while since I have done this. Soooooo......help is appreciated.
INstalled NGK bpr6fs plugs, gap at .038 does that sound right?

I'm by no mean an expert on this, but I think you're going to be told to set the timing at full advance. That's how I've set mine in the past. At full advance I'm at at 36 degrees. What cam are you running?

My cam however is slightly different .608/.618 lift 236/239 w/a 114 lobe.(rough #'s, misplaced my cam card for now)
I was told by others ~9 @ idle(900rpm) and ~36 @ 3000rpm. I have a MSD Pro distributor(no vacuum) and the engine builder took the springs out of it and pretty much locked it at full advance. It seems to run decent on the hose, but I'm still questioning removing the springs.
Today I'll find out, gonna give it a test run....
