7.4 MERC Petcock locations on block
OK so I found them last winter to drain the block but darned if I can find the holes to put the little blue plugs back in the block.
Can someone give me an idea where to find the threded holes to put the plugs back in? I am going to get a mirror so I can try to find them but though someone might be able to tell me a close location so I know where to look! Thanks all |
About the same level as the motor mount but behind it. Do not get confused with the second threaded hole down there that goes no where.
Worst case put it on the hose and start it. You will find it quick that way!!! |
i have put hose barb fittings into block drains and ran fuel hose outboard forward to have access draining. some engines the hose may flow uphill, note: for block draining. outlet end use female barb adapter with new blue plug drain fittings. works good for flushing out sand on river.

Thanks a ton for the help!

Find the holes and remove the other (base) part that the blue plugs screw into. Go to Loe's and get two 1/4 x 2 inches long pipe nipples and two 1/4 ball valves. Screw the pipe nipple into the holes and the ball valves onto the pipe nipples and tighten them up. No more plastic plugs to deal with and no more wondering who moved the holes. Just reach down and find the ball valve and turn it 90* to open, then find it again and turn it 90* to close. You dont even have to see the ball valve to operate it.
