388 hustler speed with 496's
 

Stopped by a friends shop today and he was working on a 38 foot hustler with stock 496 ho's in it. Someone stuffed these motors in it as a after thought. That boat looks BIG and HEAVY to me, I can't imagine it barely going 60 mph if not slower, my bud says the owner THINKS its going to running at least 80, after all, it has 850 hp:rolleyes:!! What kinda speed will it see, Smitty

The 388 is not a deep V nor a heavy 38 footer (compared to Formula/Cig). It won't see 80 but I'd expect low 70's.......maybe 75 under ideal conditions.


of course I've sold my 382 and putz around in a 21 ft CC now so what do I know :)

75 would be my guess. My sonic is way bigger than the hustler and runs 67-70 depending on how its loaded and water conditions.

The 388 with 500 efi's runs about 82-83. With 575 sci's, it will run almost 90. The owner of the new Rockit that I did the engines for has had (4) 388 Slingshots.
