Electrical Problem with macerator pump
 

I have an 88 Bullet and have an electrical problem with the pump in the Head. I can't get the macerator pump to work.

1. I checked the fuses under the steering wheel.
2. I swapped out he pump and still no luck.
3. Hook an electrical tester to the wires going to the pump. Hit the switch and the tester shows 12V. Connect the pump and no Volts on the tester and pump doesn't work.
What could be causing this? A bad ground?

Bad ground possibly. What size wiring are you using. Macerator pumps draw around 15 amps.

Just as a quick test, connect it straight to a battery with short leads for a second. This will tell you where the issues' at (wiring or pump connections)

The pump works connected to the battery. I believe the original wiring is 10-12 gauge.

10-12 gauge should work. Is your switch rated for that much amperage? Run a new line from your panel to the pump and new switch. Gotta be in there somewhere.....

Oh, and change the fuse anyway. Sometimes they can blow and it is not immediately evident.

a bad connection, either side-hot or ground and you can test and see volts, but it won't give enough amps...

Id say either a connection or the switch. A bad connection or poor contacting switch would show 12v with a meter until you put a load on it
