which heads do you have? if pre-85 12-bolt pattern, there are tons of used ones around. if you are gonna kill it with salt anyway, might as well get one for 50 bucks or so...if vortec, they are scarcer, but still worth looking into...then clean and paint the inside of water passage. even if you don't get it perfect, every little bit helps...
