Oil pan gasket changed in the boat?????
Is it possible to change the oil pan gasket on a 502mpi with out removing the engine looks like theres plenty of room to drop the pan down?? Wasnt for sure if your able to get to all the bolts??

I personally wouldn't attempt that. what a nightmare

if you have that much room I would simply lift it out. I also can not imagine doing that in the boat, what a nightmare. May seem easy, and will most likely come down, but getting it back up with a good seal will be impossible IMO.
Drop the drive, take the echuast boots off, unhook the merc plug, two bolts on bellhousing to transom, two bolts on front engine mounts, stater wire and ground. Lift engine, leave hanging over boat, change gasket, drop engine back down and reverse. Can been done in 4 hrs |
houdini would not attempt that one !!!!

You have to take the drive off. Then when you re-install the engine, you need to check the drive alignment with an alignment tool.
