Well after spending countless hours, and $$ changing the fuel system and chasing this problem, I found my problem. It was my mistake. I used the same timing gear set we use on our top dragster which has multiple settings, I mistakenly used the wrong setting on the crank gear. I was looking through some build pics and noticed that something was not right and decided to pull the engine and check it out. Once the gear was set right and the cam degree checked at 110 degrees the boat runs great now and has an awsome idle with this cam choice. Getting 5200 rpm's at WOT. I would like to thank everyone for their suggestions and help with this.

It's good to hear you found the problem. Aren't you glad you didn't spend $1,000+ to switch over to a carb and then still have the same problem? It should give you years of good service now that it's running good!

Glad you got your problem worked out. What prop are you turning? What kind of speed are you getting out of your boat? I have a 272 baja with a 516 carbed motor running the same cam. I purchased the boat with a bad motor and have not had a chance to put it in the water. Thanks Robert
