330 hp timing? 7.4 bravo 1
guys i got a 24 outlaw sst 1995 bravo 1 drive 21 mirage plus prop. over the winter i installed a rtr msd marine distributor , 1.7 roller rocker and converted non adjustable valve train , glm manifolds, performer 2.0 intake , edle 750 jetted the secondary's and metering rods to get rid of lean stumble going onto plane . well thats about it.lol any how the stock thunder bold v has a base timing of 8* btdc with full advance at 32 total. my msd i have set up with blue bushing with light blue springs with a base timing of 12 and total of 33. i should be good right? also im running 6.5 psi of fuel press that is good for a stock edl 750 right?

12/33 might be a little hard to start on a hot day. If it starts good, and doesn't ping then you're gold.
5 to 7psi is fine, as long as your float level is set properly for your carb's installed angle. There's really nothing wrong with your TBolt ignition as far as performing well with your HP levels. It's a reliable piece, but if you've got the MSD, then might as well keep it. Roller rockers with the stock cam is also overkill, but you won't have to buy them when you upgrade your cam. The 454/420 cam is not a bad cam if you want to stick with flat tappets and GLM style manifolds. |
i here ya man. my motor is a full roller by the way.. not a flat tappet cam. the only thing i herd today around 1000rpm with load on the boat is a clicking noise? is it pinging at low rpm due to the 12* base timing. merc had it at 8 base

could be exhaust flappers at low rpm's.
