No Thermastat..?

Is it ok to not run a Thermastat? The boat is a 97 baja hammer with a carbed 454.

You need a stst. Do not run without.

I don't run a thermostat. 1996 Carb'd 454.

I've tried a 140 and a 160, all they did was increase my water pressure and oil temp due to decreasing water flow, didn't really notice a temperature change at all.

It all depends on how cold the water you run in is. If you are in cold water, I would consider using a thermostat.

Depends on where you run at. For us up here in the chesapeake alot of us do not run with one. Never any issues.

irs not a matter of how well it runs, its a matter of how long it lasts. the ring wear and bore wear will be exponentially worse if you run the block too cold.

not to mention that the running clearences will be big and wear the pistons out as well...

there is a reason there is something called " operating temperatures" and why they aren't called " yes it will run but youll rebuild it at 1/3 the hours" temps

do what you have to do to get the temps to 160 at a minimum
