Drive coupling replacement cost

Have a 1997 350 mag with a Bravo3 outdrive that has a bad coupling . The boat is a crowline very tight engine compartment. What is a good price to have the coupling changed?

I would expect to pay 400-600$ labor. A local boat shop pulled my original 502 once for me around here when I was swamped with paying work in my own shop and they charged me 175$ to pull it, 250$ to put it back in, Smitty

I would bet you are looking at 8-10hrs labor total plus about $400 for a coupler. Probably about $1500 total.

ouch!!

makes you realize that one better get in there and GREASE IT! :(

mr3dman 07-17-2012 12:06 PM

I agree with Griff, 1500 is realistic because the motor has to come out or at leasted lifted and turned so the bell housing can be removed

$600 labor plus parts. Coupler $470.00 from Bam marine.

10 hours labor is what I was charged to remove and install the motor. $85/hour, ugh...

10 hrs for a two hour job...nice..

Pismo10, have you ever looked at a crownline? It took me about 4-5 hour to replace mine, but I would bet my brothers 23ft crown would take 10 hours.

Must be tight in there because if you have even modest space to spin the motor some it is a fairly easy job.

BBCLiberator 07-17-2012 10:01 PM

I've taken mine out and put it in three times, it's at least an 8 hour job in my boat, more like 14 the first time. As anything you get better. I considered 10 hours fair.

crownline502 07-17-2012 11:15 PM

I have a 94 crownline225 with a 502 no way 2 hours. I need that much to remove the interior. With my bobcat 773 it takes me about 5 hours to remove and replace, but I am slow and feeling old.
