Default Merc 898 to alpha one

Old man has a 1978 glastron cvz 18 that we are going to tear apart this winter and redo. It is currently outfitted with an old 898 merc rig. Going to switch it over to alpha gen 1. Is the key hole in the transom the same or do we need to modify it some?

I thought model 1, R, MR, and Alphas used the same transom assembly. You should be good.

I would be surprised if they were not.

real hard swap. unbolt the R or MR, bolt on the alpha. don't even need to change gimball housing, unless you want to... but keyhole is same.
