Set skrew keeps going loose on Mercrusier control?

I have a small set skrew (5/16-18) that holds the throttle shiffter tight. But after a short run, it's loose again.

I'm guessing it needs locktite or ??? But I know the RED locktite would make it impossible to remove.

What should I be using on this??

Thanks for the input!

This is the control I have:

Try blue loctite, which is removeable without heat.

Thanks guys, the blue would be more handy for other things as well. I checked the loctite site, and they also have purple, which sounds bang on for this, but nothing else.

Here is what they say, and below is a link to a handy chart as well.

LoctiteŽ 222™

of adjustment screws,
countersunk head screws and
set screws; on collars, pulleys,

If theres enough threads just put another 5/16 set screw in right behind the other to lock it in.

Im sure that you probably have taken care of this but on my cable there are two set screws one from each side. If you were missing one or didn’t catch it I would imagine that you could get the same results that are fighting.
