502 GM Crate Engine?

Is anyone running the 502 502 HP engines in there boat?

How is the idle with the factory roller? Does the engine make good power?

I got two from www.1800runsnew.com 502, 435 hp service base motors. I have prochargers on them and they are strong and run great. No idleing problems etc.

I put a 502/502 in a 22 Scarab last year. The engine ran great. Pulled a 27" Mirage about 5100 rpm. The cam is fine and the idle sounds great. Everybody asked me what was in it when they heard it idle. Never once stalled at idle. I bought the 502/502 short block and put some new rectangular port heads on it because I run in the salt sometimes. I milled the heads to achieve the same compression ratio as with the aluminum heads. 9.4 I think. I did change the valve springs because the stock double spring that came on the iron heads was not up to the lift of the 502/502 cam. I used a Comp Cams spring I dont remember the number but Jim Valeko from this site recommended them and they worked fine. I think I paid $3700.00 for the shortblock delivered to my shop. I bought from paceparts.com.
