25 Mirage+/Bravo ?

I`m using a 25-14,5 Mirage + On my 25 Arriva with
502 MPI and hitting the rev limmiter 5000.
Now want to try a 4 blade Bravo prop, what is the
best to try a 24`or 25`? Thanks.

502 Magnum :) :)

Bravo 4-blade's come stock in even sizes(22, 24, 26, etc.) and the general rule of thumb when converting from 3-blades to 4-blades is to go down 1" in pitch. This would indicate a 24, but since you're on the limiter, you may very well do better with a labbed 26.

I think the 4 blade Bravos are in even # pitches. You will have to go to maybe a 28 inch and work it from there. I bet a 26inch will make you experience the same problem. Your boat will lose some top end, but will cruise better and hole shot better and you might experience some additional stern lift. You may want to have some cup added to your Mirage.

Am I thinking backwards with the 4 blade pitch increase, Baja Daze?

Rules of thumb:

1. You will lose 100 to 200 rpm going from a 3 blade to a 4 blade prop.

2. You will lose 100 to 200 rpm when you go up in pitch.

I went from a 21" mirage plus to a 22" bravo 1 and lost 300 rpm. But, the bravo 1 was a demo prop covered in chipped blue paint. I'm told the pitch on bravo 1's is overstated by 1/2 inch.

I'd try to borrow a 24 pitch bravo 1 to test. If you can't make 5000 rpm you can have it labbed to regain the rpm. If you're still hitting the limiter with the 24 pitch, buy a 26 pitch.

I stand corrected on my RPM Change between a 3 blade and 4 blade. You guys are correct.

Actually bravo props are measured conservitively so you would go up a pitch from a mirage

FASTERDAMITT 07-08-2002 07:11 PM

There is a couple Bravo1 props on the classified section. If not the right one, I have a 26 I don't need. I'm looking for a 29 or 30 three blade myself.

Frequency;

Actually the Bravo1 props are 1 1/2" less than their stated pitch. They are measured and sold at their maximum pitch where most other props are measured and sold at their average pitch.
