Alternator: rebuild or new?

My alternator died. No output at all. Any down side to having it rebuilt or should I buy new? Mine is a Mando 3 wire type. Should I change to a one wire setup? Anybody know what's involved in that? What's the difference between marine and automotive alternators (other than the price)?

I rebuild and have no problems... ever. Presolite alternators.

Rebuild.

Should cost nearly the same to rebuild a marine as an automotive. You pay for the sealed case and the corrosion resistant fasteners and parts. A rebuild is the way to go unless you want to swap to a higher output unit.
