Hydro props
Does the large thrust washer behind the prop get used with the Hydros? I recall mine having the brass bushing, just don't remember the large washer being there.
Thanks |
On an XR shaft, there is nothing behind the prop - so I have been told..... and told.......and told. Not sure what the deal is on a standard shaft.

Yes, but it's different. I forget how it all fits togther, but I recall the washer being different.

Jerry, The big brass washer I have is the exact same washer I have used for two years. It works with bravo1 props and works with my current Hydromotives and also a Mirage one time. You know what drive I have so it should work for you too unless you get an X drive.
Let me know and I'll get the # off of it for ya. Eric |
For standard Bravo 1 drives, Hydromotive told me I could use either the 13171 thrust washer for Mirage props, or the 12-835467-5 thrust washer for Bravo One props. The 13171 thrust washer allows the prop to fit a bit further into the gear housing, so I prefer to use it.
In either case, you'll also need to use the splined brass washer that goes under the nut. Hope this is helpful. |
Thanks guys
I ordered the new upgraded Bravo drive from MBAM today. Not the X drive.
Just couldn't for the life of me remember if it had the large 2-3" dia. thrust washer in addition to the small 1 1/2" brass thrust washer. Must be that age thing! So the large thrust washer is not used with a Hyromotive prop. Just the smaller brass one. Do new props come with all neccessary parts? Hydromotive Washer Info - XR shaft
Why would the sequence of parts used for an XR shaft be any different than for a regular shaft? Hydro shows that the prop goes on first, followed by the washers and the nut........... nothing goes "in front of" the prop. |
Check out this Link. #41 is what you need to put "in front of" the prop. Thrust hub is what they call it. It's the same one I have used for my current Hydromotive and prior Bravo props. You'll also need a piece that goes "in back of" the prop. It's like #43 but does not extend into the prop hub like this one. You should be able to get that from Hydromotive.

Exactly Eric. The part you've identified as #41 (thrust washer or thrust hub) is what I gave the two part numbers for. #43 is what I was referring to as the splined washer that goes under the nut. I don't have that part number, but it is used with earlier Mirage props. Earlier Mirage props didn't have the hollow hub that uses the insert.

Yep, those are the parts! I called Hydro this morning. They gave me several numbers to choose from as far as the thrust washer (#41) I bought both parts you listed Eric.
BTW, pt# 13171 is superceded by the new current number 12-835467 Just picked up the new drive from airport. Jerry will be BACK ON THE WATER this weekend. :D :D Eric, Thanks so much for the drive info you gave my wife. We both really appreciated the effort. Jerry |
