Cause of Bravo One Clutch Locked Up
I have a 29' Fountain with twin 454 MAG MPIs with Bravo Ones. I recently had the gears replaced (including all the bearings) on the Port side Drive. I also just replaced the shift cable from the shifter throttle to the engine. After I replaced these components I took the boat out and it was running and shifting great. Then last weekend I took it out and ran it about 7-10 miles then went to go dock the boat and I could not shift it into neutral from forward. I determined the clutch was stuck because I could not move the prop in either direction. Since I only had 2-4 hours on this newly rebuilt drive, I tool the boat back to where the drive was rebuilt. The drive specialist is saying the clutch jammed into the gears (shifted to far forward) because the shift cable I replaced from the shifter throttle to the motor was not properly adjusted. This does not make any sense to me because you can disconnect the shifter throttle and manual shift the boat at the block and not worry about jamming the clutch into the gears. (its either in forward, neutral, or reverse). Does anyone have any input?
