Gaffrig Tach Reads High - 496HO
 

Last couple times I've had my boat out, my Gaffrig tach has been reading a few thousand rpm high.

Engine is a 496HO.

When I hook up the scan tool, and use the "test tach" function, it commands 3000 rpm, but the tach reads double...6000 rpm.

Anybody seen this before and have an easy fix?

Tach's go bad all the time !! throw it out and buy an Autometer Marine tach ,then at least you can get it repaired if it acts up...... good luck
