Deck Temp Vs Deck Color
I am thinking of painting a white boat a silvery metallic light grey sort of a silver mercedes color. My question is how much hotter is that to stand on than white. Anyone have a silver boat?

Chris I did measure the difference between white and black down here in our Fla sun after a local TV crew did the same and said their was none. I used an infared temp gun and in direct sun light the white was right at 100* and the black was 148*! Down here if you pick up an adjustable wrench after laying it in the sun you will have a perfect mirror image of the word "crescent" permanently burned into your hand :cartman: |
I had a all silver boat it wasn't bad , I had a black pearl stripe down the center of the deck you couldn't even step on it but silver stayed cool

I remember the red was about 25 degrees warmer, & the blue was warmer then that. I do not remember if there was much difference between the white and silver. |
