epoxy for transducers?

Do I have to use the expoxy glue that came with my depth finder to install the puck transducer? Can I just use the polyester resin that I'm currently using to fix the boat? I would think the bond would be stronger if I glued it now before I painted the bilge. I think somewhere along the line I heard the polyester resin might heat up too much causing damage to the transducer?

I use Marine-Tex epoxy, you need something that is slow cure so you don't get any air pockets under the transducer otherwise it will not read properly.

I used 4200 after I painted the bilge.

You can use virtually any adhesive - as long as you don't get any air bubbles trapped in it.

I have had transducers that would not work after being installed with 3M 4200/5200.We removed them and used slow cure epoxy and worked fine.
